Hovea is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the Shire of Mundaring, approximately 30 kilometres east of Perth’s CBD. Neighbouring suburbs surround it include Parkerville, Swan View, Greenmount and Glen Forrest, as wells as being bordered by the John Forrest National Park along its west.
The suburb of Hovea receives its name after a crossing loop on the Eastern Railway. Formerly named 'Park View' in 1912 from its proximity to the National Park, however to avoid confusion with nearby stations, Swan View and Bellevue, it was renamed Hovea. Hovea is the name of a purple flowered native plant, a commonly found in the nearby Darling Range, in turn it was named after a Polish botanist.
