Formerly Ardross and Applecross was an area of land acquired by Scotsman Sir Alexander Percival Matheson, who subdivided the land creating Ardross Street which adjoined the two lands.

Within Ardross’s boundaries notably lies Garden City Shopping Centre, Shirley Strickland Reserve and Wireless Hill the home of a diverse range of native floral species.
