Established in 1905, the suburb of Como was originally comprised of three large land grants, with Edmund Hugh Comer acquiring the land in 1891. The land was subdivided in 1905 under the name “Como Estate”, which is considered to be taken either from the Comer's surname or after the town situated on the shore of Lake Di Como in northern Italy.
